Extra 330L

I have always loved the look of the Extra with that huge canopy. The first one I built was from a plan and it was built from dowels , I showed it at Haigh Hall show, it was in MGF colour scheme.
I went to Southport show this year and was impressed by the hanger 9 Extra in a nice green colour scheme. I had a word with Andy and was told it is £700 so I ended up getting one from Hobbyking for about £250. It is almost same size as the hanger 9 one , I am fitting a 55cc boxer petrol engine.
I was very pleased with the quality of the kit, it comes with very well made cowl and spats.
I didn't like the ply floor of the canopy so I cut it out, I have scratch built the instrument panel in the photo using the internet to find pictures of full size.

Smashing instrument panel, I see your workshop is 1,195 ft up, must be in the loft!

Well spotted Steve :D This next stage involved casting switches in plasticine mould using P38 you do need a pin hole though to let the air out as I found out on first try. There is a spare key on the fob in case the pilot loses one

Pilots seat, the joy stick moves in all directions. Still got some more straps/buckles to make.
The photo it is sat on is the front seat which is slightly different

The 12mm tube fits in 1/2 hole this allows the tail to move up/down even more so with the fixing screws /tabs both being underneath. Not used to this as I have always built from kits/plans, should I get some 1/2 tube and see if I can get it in the tailplane and improve the slop?

Not touched this model for months as I have been restoring a Flair Tiger moth. Made some brackets so I could fix the seat ,but remove it if needed to get to rudder servo. The displays at the front are left/lipo rec. volts ,right /engine revs.
