The glass cowls came from Falcon aviation they were the last 4 they had unfortunately I had to extend them 20mm to fit over the Zenoah 38's I'm using

Thank you for this information, I'm wondering if he has changed them. I will have to call him. I got my last ones from him.

If anything they were too big not too small, they were also white too! :)

Thanks again though!

Craig love the work on the tail, mine isn't quite upto your level but will hopefully fly in the end :-)

Thanks rob

Been a while since I have posted anything.
Contacted Falcon in November to get cowls, ordered four of them. Now I have not heard back, no responses from my emails. A little disappointing as I was planning with enough time to get them here to Canada as my build progresses.

Anyway, have the tail almost completely riveted, has taken a few days.
Hope to post a few pictures once it gets another coat of primer to make the rivets noticeable.

Cheers
Craig

Applied a light coat of primer to see the results.
I will take some more pictures later, and am happy with the way it looks.

Wow!! Craig, stunning workmanship, you must be proud. Please conceder my offer of putting a build thread in the LMA Journal or even a few shorts on some of your building techniques, the members I'm sure would appreciate it. Keep up the good work.

I think today I will have a big fire! Mine doesn't look anything like this! It's fantastic the craftsmanship! Looks brilliant

What are you using for the glue?? Is it aliphatic? Also what device is that you are using to apply them!

Keep up the good work!

Hi Craig.
Great scale detail. Can't wait to see flying video. Any idea of your target dry weight? I'm aiming to keep mine under 40Kg.

I have been just using a brown wood glue, seems to be working out. Took some experimenting as some glues dry out to much and look all dimply.
I used some 1/32 chart tape for the panel lines, also tried doing a lap joint in a few areas using tape as a hard edge, worked ok. I usually use 1/64 tape for the panels but went a bit larger so they will stand out a bit better. Usually leave the tape on until completely dry, sand down to the tape then remove it. This time I built up the primer, waited a while until the primer set up, then removed the tape, less work, no sanding and it turned out pretty good.

As for the cowls, I still need to investigate these, but will have to get moving on them soon.
Thanks for the interest, much appreciated. Feel free to post your pictures as well, all info is appreciated.
I am pondering the tail wheel at the moment, as well as sorting out the nose bubble mounting.

Cheers

Craig

Worked on the crew door on the starboard side of the fuselage.
Marked it all out with pencil then using a taped down ruler, I cut out the door.
I am using a large Dubro hinge with a removable pin as the main hinge for the door.

It turned out pretty good. Still need to do a few things to seal the balsa on the door and door frame, as well as some stop ledges on the door so it closes flush.
Works pretty good, and am happy with how it turned out.
