I have just purchased a Bud Nosen Mister Mulligan. I have ordered the plan from Modelplans as the seller didn't have any....yes I got it from eBay.

The air frame is unflown, there is a new rgcf 62cc in with it and 4 new 22x8 wood props. The wingspan has been stretched from 110" to 155". Flaps are fitted. The wings are fitted on by 4 large cap head bolts through the top of the cabin roof and very substantial struts. There is no wing tube. I can deduce 3D flying is out with this one!

Could anyone what are the flight characteristics are. And what I might need to look out for.

I have started stripping the wings, for two reasons. The TowardPro servos are buried under the covering with no access hatches. These will have to go. I neede to see how it's made and wether I am going to need any mods.
Also the paint finish on the wings was not good. So it will be white Solartex and top coat spray paint. The rudder was also a TowardPro ( all the servos in fact). It was just a long carbon push rod with little evidence of support. I will install a closed loop if I can thread the wires down ok.
I might also put in a naviagation light system.

Could anyone tell me the best way to have Rx battery backup? I have seen a ems/Jomar box which will do the job but has any pilot had one ? Thanks

I have just weighed the Mister Mulligan and found it weighs 19kg. Now, I could say "great - its under the 20kg limit"...but I won't. I would like someone to check it over and suggest any changes and modifications that may be needed.
I know that Simon Willey lives only 30 miles away. Has anyone heard about him? I sent him a couple of emails last year but had no reply.
If all else fails I would have to take the plane elsewhere to be inspected. Is there anyone else in Cornwall or the SW ?

Sounds like a very good idea to get this model registered into the Over 20kg scheme. You're close to the limit already and any major rework or modification is likely to increase weight further.

Contact Tony Hooper (details here on the LMA site) and he will get you registered and appoint you your local inspector.

Since the last post a lot of work has been done but nothing much to show for it. 2 servos per aileron fitted, PowerBox fitted , nav lights fitted, closed loop rudder done.
Also put in 4 anti rotation rods on the wings. There was no room for a wing tube but the plan didn't have one either. Run the engine up and replumbed the whole system. There is only the wings to sand, recover and paint. Also paint the hatches that needed to be made when I redid the rudder closed loop from the original push rod.
The decals from USA have turned up. Also made a cooling baffle fro the radial cowl. Anyone want to see some pictures??

P.S. that Power box is damn clever isn't it...

Id certainly like to see pictures, Peter.

I'm fairly new to Powerbox products but I've been very impressed so far. Very easy to use and very capable.

I'll certainly keep using PB equipment.
