At long marston Last Year, i was asked by 4 people if i would be doing a slightly smaller version of my 68% Challenger 2, To which i replied at some point.

Since then, i sold my christen eagle ( Left me in September) and i will be needing a smaller 50% Ish Model.

So 2 months ago in my spare evenings, i begun work on the 50% ish version which i intent to market through the usual model outlets on line.

I thought i would post a design and build log on here so be warned this could get long.

the 50% Model should come out at 2.7 Meter wing and a weight of 57 Lbs according to the successful EMWH version. However... I never understood why they made it 2.7m .... Their Eagle was 3 Meter and the Pitts was also 3m... So i intent to make this challenger 3m As well and have a AUW of again 57 Lbs

The engine i will be designing around will be the ZDZ 210, but! The plane will also suit the DA150 and the 3W 220 b4

First pic of the thread is the start of outlining the model ready for solidworks :)

From autocad, i moved the model in to solidworks to sketch parts, and make sure all the model goes together before laser cutting all parts

Since the Design was completed within a few weeks, we started to laser cut all parts and start the build.

So this is as far as we have got.
LMA Inspection - Passed.
16 x JR 8911 Awaiting install - Tick
ZDZ 250, NEARLY READY TO ORDER.
weight - 62 lbs ( only 3lbs over..... if we went for the zdz 210 as originally thought, we would have been under 60 LBS :) )

now on to moulds for cockpit and canopy.

Due to the overwhelming response This model has had and almost crashing the LMA website due to the amount of posts and support we have received, ,( Yeh Right, Its not a WW1 OR a WW2 Aircraft) Thought i would at least post a picture of the finished plane.

Thanks for all the support LMA :)
