I am currently building a 1/12 scale Avro Vulcan B Mk2

This was not built from a kit. I had to design it from photographs, the main dimensions and a very small (a5) 3 view diagram. That is why I am including photos that illustrate the various stages and methods of construction.
It has a wingspan of 2.82M length 2.68M and is .69M high.

Now how good does that look very nice looks like a good bit of craftmanship there.

How long has it took you to get to this stage ?

As for how long it has taken me -----
I spent about 2 weeks trying to find/acquire plans or a kit on the internet but all that I came up with was an A5 3 View and a bunch of photographs.
So then I spent about 6 weeks drawing all of the ribs / formers (that were to cut from light ply ) and printing them onto A4 sheets. I don't have a CAD program so I used The Visual basic Designer. Then I pasted the printed ribs onto card and cut them out so that I could draw round them onto light ply.
Cutting out the shapes with a jig saw took me about another 4 weeks.
Assembling - up to the stage that you see so far took about 5 weeks.
So - in total that is 17 weeks in total.

I have now finished planking it (that took about six weeks) and I an adding a photo of that

Hi Stuey,
I am not sure if I should use 4 EDFs or a jet. The problem with a jet is where or how to do the jet pipes. At the moment I have four jet pipes, each of 60mm diam. Any advice would be very much appreciated. As it is, without servos, engines or receiver it weighs 9 kilos. That may sound slightly heavy but most of it is double skinned ( 2 layers of 2mm balsa). I live in madrid and all ao my materials come on metric dimensions.
I have very limited experience with building model aircraft. So far I have built :
A 1/7th scale Sea Fury form Tower Hobbies that was a superb kit with instructions that enabled even a novice to build a fantastic aircraft that flies fantastically.
A 1/6th Scale Spitfire from a crap kit that lacked many essential parts and almost no instructions. The good news was that, being so bad, it taught me a lot and now it looks fantastic and flies even better than the Sea fury - and gave me the confidence to tackle the Vulcan fro0m scratch.

A bit more progess. It is now fully painted and then main decals are in place.

Not quite ready to fly yet. I have installed every thing except the turbines and fuel tanks. So far I have an AUW of just over 10Kg.
After a lot of researching, mainly what other builders of large jets have done, I have decided to power it with two Wren 70s. This will give me a bit more power than I really need 14Kg of thrust for a Total Loaded weight of around 30Kg. But then with all that thrust and the massive wing area, my take off run should be really short. Besides, a Full size Vulcan has a massive thrust to weight ratio - does it not? :-)
