She sure is, ready to taxi out and fly now, its just the weather.... :( I need a field that we can fly with the wind from the west......seems to be westerly wind all the time at the moment.... :(

As for the test pilot....not me, Dave Johnson will help with that... Im sure she will fly just fine :) cant wait!!!

Well after what seems a life time we now have a fully tested flying Lancaster.

We took the Lancaster out yesterday to our local field and she preformed faultlessly everything worked well together (and nothing fell off :D )

We had the official 6 flights with an extra flight in after before the rain got us, next plan is to start to finish detailing the model and get it painted.

Thank you to Dave Johnson and Dave Bailey for helping with this model and putting up with the showers yesterday.

The video will be on here soon as i can get hold of the camera man :)

Cheers

Rob

Cheers Mark :)

It sure has Jason, from balsa block and 25% plan to a 17' Lancaster. I am extremely pleased with it, as i have mentioned before tho the last thing i built was a Irvine tutor 40, so this just shows that you can learn as you go along.... :) :)

as for the next build...no way! lol i have a Lancaster fussy on the stairs, 2 wings in the kitchen and a tail section in the back bedroom..... lol could;t fit any more in lol. I am going to finish the lanc off get her looking very smart :)

still waiting on the video :)

Great news Rob, looks lovely in the air. Looks like yours has the right amount of dihedral too, some of the other Nijhuis Lancs seem to have 'free flighter' amounts of dihedral, did you change yours or is it just an optical illusion??

Top job

Ian.

Well Den, you are the same as me.....i hit the wall many times with this build....everything you do you do 4 times....but watching videos really encourages you to move on.

It has been well worth the stress, X-girl friend and Christmas day working on it in between Christmas dinner haha....now onto the detailing :) :)

Thank Ian :)

As for the dihedral i built the wing as per the plan.... BUT the wing is 4' wide and my bench was 3' so the build was very difficult, and at times i thought i had to much dihedral but she looked and flew extremely well....

Mr Johnson seemed to be happy with it, even mentioned something about a loop at one point lol......very very glad he was only joking (I hope)...... :?

Well done Robert!
That was quite an undertaking. Glad you saw it through to the end(well, when you've finished the detailing) and it looks and sounds wonderful in the air. I wish we, here in Canada, had a higher weight limit, so we could fly the bigger models.

Cheers,
Dave.

Dave, "Rather unique sound effects at 49-52 sec....!"

That was my camera man, when the lanc didn't take off he thought i was Cr**ing my self......haha :) :) (not far wrong)

Thank you Steve, i am over the moon with it!! really am.... i think if i went home with even a 3' strip of balsa i would be shown the door, when i got home from work last night i got the lovely smell of petrol fumes coming from the kitchen.....lets see how long i can keep that up lol :) :)

Well done Robert,as said before a great achievement for a young lad, I admire that, now you can enjoy the painting bit, then the flying, I hope to see you and the Lanc some time at one of the shows or Fly ins.
