4.5 " wheels with hrakes

Postby Mike altham » July 4th, 2011, 2:36 pm

Hi guys

Just wondering what are a good choice for wheels and brakes?

It's for the nimrod. I am looking to put brakes on the mains but on the two outer wheels each side.

Would that he a wise decision or would it he better on the front two of each side as the bogeys carry 4 wheels each.

Any info would be good

Cheers

Mike

I've had excellent service out of a set of 4" Robart wheels & brakes on my sport jet.....they do them in various different hub patterns in 1/2" increments from 4" to 6". Rather than a simple 'o-ring' type brake, these are more of a disc type and have prooved perfectly good for bringing a 30+lb sport jet to a hault with a 2" brake on each main wheel, so with 2 per bogie, you should be fine. The tyres are a nice light rubber faced polyurothane foam rather than the heavy solid rubber normally found on specialist 'jet' wheels (BVM etc....) Mine have worn very well in the 5 years I've had them, no where near ready to replace the tyres yet.

Cheers Phil

Do you think they would be ok for 140lbs model. Was looking at the 4.5" Robards with brakes.

Cheers

140lb spread over 8 main wheels.....no problem.

I have 33lb at take off spread over 2 and they show limited wear after 5 years use.
