Indeed , I enjoyed starting the SE5a at the weekend, you have to attack the prop for the right amount of swing to get through the gearbox and kick it into play.

The Scout is advancing nicely, as of today its all built, having just finished the elevators.
I will be covering it soon.
Fortunately it is a simple airframe, requiring nothing like the detail that Baldock-Marrow has had to put into his fine machine.
Therefore with favorable trade winds, I'm hoping to be in the circuit at Rougham with the rest of the DP.
Fingers crossed.
New pictures coming soon.

Hi Mike

How are you representing the lacing on the side/top of the fuselage? What has been worrying me with my own intended 1/3rd scale build is how to do it, some appear to have lacing eyes some hooks.

Hi Shaun, ive got that sussed but will type in soon on how to... as its late.
Interestingly ive got the same series of photos like yours from a replica built in the the USA in the early 1980s. very helpful.
Mine though is a MK BB for Barington-Booth, with drawings and modifications that would of been in place had I been around the Bristol works in 1914!
Mines all built, Ive got the covering started, I just need some spare time!!

Hi Shaun, I have been finishing another Spit which is almost done. I'm about to attack the scout which is all built with some covering done.
My lacing is going to be dyed string sewn through hemmed 'solartexed' sides.
I not bothering with all the hooks. 'waits for slap on the wrists from Field Marshal Tappin'

I've now started the final push on the Scout after finishing the build on a second PRU Spit. I should have some new pics up soon. Looking forward to messing about with traditional materials again after six years of composite airframes.

The Scout is coming together well now with everything built and just the wings to cover.
I have spent some time reproducing the fabric panels in cream linen solartex.
I had to iron in a hem with cotton rib tape as per the fullsize and then stitch on the panels .
Although I have not bothered with all the stitching, ( underneath) the standard of finish with models in the DP is so high, I felt I simply could not do any less than add this very apparent detail.

I am pushing towards final assembly of all components, rigging the kite and fitting 4.8 GHz wireless control, which utilizes a rather posh solid mahogany command case, this is mounted on its own horse drawn cart, making the whole apparatus highly mobile and rather superior to anything the Bosh might have.

Thats coming on Nicely.
You will have to get a move on as there are a lot more German aircraft for this season and more British aircraft will be needed to fend them off
