as a matter of ‘boredom’ sorry interest

Postby Dave Parry » February 4th, 2012, 1:37 pm

Well being stuck at home sat in my junk room that I call my office tinkering away at the Journal, I have just noticed out the window the long predicted snow we have been bombarded with all week on the weather forecasts as finally started to fall. So as a matter of ‘boredom’ sorry interest, how is it where you are. ‘Come on humour me’, please. :D

Tony, Alan lives in Oldham, I'm about 10 miles away in Ramsbottom. Its just stopped snowing here, it started about 12-00. We've had great fun watching the cars struggle to get up the hill outside our house, there have been several different approches, those who start slowly and try to not spin the wheels don't get half way, the braver who take a run up and keep the foot on the gas seem to do better and snake their way to the top. that is unless they are driving a BMW or Merc, these are the most entertaining and hardly make an impression on the hill. just had to run to the window and watch a mini go down the hill sideways. lol

Sound like fun Paul, I to live at the bottom of a pretty steep hill and nothing but a 4 wheel drive will get up hence the reason I have a drive, but no fun for us tonight it is just raining now. Alan DON'T WORRY the rain is on it's way to you.

Just thought id join in the fun. Here in central France weve had the snow for a few days now, most fell last Tuesday. However out in the sticks it hasnt melted, temps are around -12 at night rising to -5 during the day. My river is starting to freeze over, the ice is about 40mm thick at the moment, but today we were blessed with blue clear skies. The sound of chainsaws is heard more often as people cut firewood and theres more tractors outside the bar in the village as farmers take the more sure footed vehicles to collect necessary items (Galouises and wine!!!)
Life continues, just at a different tempo and in a slightly more casual approach.

Well you see Alan, we didn't all have snow at that time so just interested to know who and where.
Time now 11.45 just looked out of the window and it's chucking it down. Probably a few inches already.

White out in Marlborough, we always get it as we ae surrounded by hills, therefore tricky on the driving as you cannot get out of the town in three directions unless you go up steep hills.
It'll all be over by Christmas.

Well this morning we have a bit of snow on the ground but it look like we have had an arctic cold blast overnight everywhere is covered in what looks like a sheet of glass, the rain must have frozen as it hit the house wall, Brrrrrrrrrrr, it’s cold this morning. Right it is now 7:30am so I better go and get ready, off to Cosford this morning for a meeting to finalise the event and hopefully iron out any last minute problems.
