Ziroli Dauntless no 2

Postby frank fearn » December 10th, 2012, 8:05 pm

Heres my second Ziroli Dauntless well on its way. Hoping to make a few changes from the first one I built, mainly adding more detail and keeping the weight down...will see our she develops

Hello Chris,

Unfortunately I have no earlier shots, work, houses, kids, wives, limit my building time so time spent here is time away from the build.......I will continue to add pics as I progress,

Frank

Chris,

Each section of the frame was individually cut from stock litho, annealed then simple bent / persuaded to suit each section. I then took a gamble following successful practice attempts and and stuck them on with zap o doo glue....works a treat and it dose not want to move after 24hrs or so.

cheers,

Frank

Hi Frank, very nice indeed, well done, now considering this is your second one, you must be getting a dab hand at it now so could I interest you in doing an article of the journal. It could be about what you have just posted here, a nice steep by steep with some photos I am sure our members will appreciate being shown how it was done. “sorry Frank I never miss an opportunity”.

That looks ace Frank,

Where did you get the plain canopy? Or did you vac it yourself?

I have the Ziroli one for my Bates jobster, but also plan to make my own frame so a plain one would save me alot of work (taking moulds, sanding the moulded in frames off then getting a vac form done).

Cheers

Thanks Dave  The pics that are listed on here are the only ones I have for this build, but I would be pleased to do a small journal for a forthcoming project if you think it would be beneficial to others. I will continue to add as I progress, many thanks :D

Matt,

The canopy came direct from Mr Ziroli, it is a pre-vac with embossed moldings at about the correct position as per the real thing. Obviously she needs to be carefully cut to suit. I always apply "electricians tape" to the cut line, ensuring accurate alignment and a definite edge to cut to.

Regards,

Frank
