Manston, the home of Kent International Airport, are having a show this year on June 22nd after a gap of about 20 years. I have been in touch with the organisers to see if they would be interested in allowing some model flying before the full size show, see the website Southeast Airshow. They are going to get back to me after talking to SATCO. If I do get the go-ahead the flying would be limited to 1 hour only due to the full size movements during most of the day. Due to this I would like to invite members mainly from the Southeast, we don't have many events in this corner of the country, who have large display type models to put their names forward to fly, the aircraft need to be large because Manston runway is vast and smaller models would not be seen, the spectator line is a long way back from the display area as with all full size shows. A few models for static display only would also be welcomed but this is a one day only show and getting to it with travelling costs as they are may put members off. The only bonus point is free entry to the show if you do book in.
There is no guarantee at the moment that the go-ahead will be forthcoming but a few provisional entries would be a start. Let me know by email sheila.bransfield at btinternet.com or phone 01843841691 to give me names and models. Although this is not an LMA event all of the standard requirements for public display flying will be necessary.
Thanks, Dave Hayfield
