Give Ian a cigar! Not full size, just 3/4 which will fit into the car by removing the tail section.

Very nice Phil, look forward to seeing the finished article.Been busy myself as usual, bought this Comp arf hawk for myself but have now decided to sell it.It came to me in the Display colour scheme with an awful lot of hangar rash some really bad,so the decision was made to totally refurb and repaint. The majority of the uc doors were also missing. The scheme chosen is to comemorate the 70th anniversery of the Spitfire, after looking at many schemes this one really jumped out at me.Now nearing completion it will be up for sale,i have all the maintanance marking from tailormade decals to fit,it is full of JR servos and carf retracts.

Cheers,Dave.

Painting started on the Corsair.

Warbirdcolors 'US Sea Blue' thinned 25% with concentrated auto screen wash, applied with 0.6mm HVLP Iwata mini spray gun. 3 light coats giving excellent coverage with minimal paint used so the flush surface detail remains prominent so a wash should bring it all out later in the finishing process.

Nice one Paul.
For a first attempt at panal lines, rivets, dirt etc you have made a cracking job.
A brave move doing a warbird as a racer, perhaps some more will follow?

OPINIONS PLEASE. Do you think the mini servo with 3Kg of torque will be man enough to open and close the bomb doors on my Mosquito? As can be seen from the photo's the doors open beyond the fuselage sides and you can't get a straight run at the door.

Hi Sean, try reversing your horn you are using to pull the door closed with. As you close the door the leverage gets less the way you have it, when it needs to be at its strongest, use all of the servo travel to get best out of your linkage and servo, keeping doors closed is harder than opening them due to air pressure in the fuzz when flying.

all the best Dave

Hi David,
Thanks for the reply, i'll try re configuring things and see how it works out. I may try air rams but they may get in the way of the bomb-bay area i'll have to see. I have a small 2mm neodymium magnet in the rear of each door to help keep them closed.

With surface detailing complete on the Corsair, last 2 major jobs before paint are renovating the retracts & fitting the tail wheels doors, plus cockpit interior & canopy.

Retracts were stripped, sand blasted, etch primed before being painted in Warbirdcolors US Sea Blue followed by a Klass Kote satin clear coat. A bit of time & effort but a big improvement over what I was supplied with.
