Cheers Mike

Now that I've started weathering it that hard I need to continue. Another case of 'why did I start this!'

As I said before, now I've started weathering it this hard I don't know when to stop. I can see me ending up with more silver than green at this rate! :D

It won't be ready to fly at Rougham but I may take it for static

Fixed the tail wheel assembly on. The tail cone is removable despite not being able to see the join in the pics

And the exhausts although they look a funny colour in these pics for some reason. They look OK in the flesh

Took it to the field tonight. I was all pumped up expecting to test fly it if all went well. The build has taken me 2 1/2 years so to say I was nervous is understatement of the century

This is how it went.

Set the model up but left the cowl off to tune the engine with the new silencer. Put a little bit a fuel in just for test running.

Got the engine running and it needed tweaking. had many start stop and tweaks. With help from the rest of the TJD team and my dad we finally got it running well (remembering that the engine is brand new).

Put the cowl on and there seemed to be no difference.

So I pumped up the retracts, did a full range check and tried some taxi trials.

the wind was pretty strong and the rain clouds were getting darker and darker but it felt like now or never!

It went away lovely so I put the wheels straight up. As I did that one of the doors (that was only temporarily fixed) parted company. no big problem, it was recovered.

A couple of circuits and it felt good despite the blustery conditions. Then the engine died but throttling back regained tick over and I landed. It came in great

I tweaked slightly, put more air in and took straight off. During the second circuit the engine suddenly surged then cut.

Now, if you read this post fully and took it all in you will now the problem!!!!

Dont tell me you ran out of fuel! We have all done something like that, may be the human brain is not quite capable of model flying......
Please tell me it is undamaged?
My own thing was putting the wing on a model without connecting the ailerons, just to check the c of g, then, because it suddenly stopped raining, test flying it with no ailerons- caught me out big style and spun in!

Thankfully I got it down in one piece, put more petrol in and flew again.

There are a few little things to sort but all in all a success!
