Projects down at http://www.supermarineworks.com are progressing well.
Here are some update shots of the nearly finished Pr19.
First up I'd like some illustrated suggestions for driving my retractable tailwheel doors.
The main unit is air operated, ikind of have an idea, but it would be good to duplicate a successful setup already in use.
Please advise chaps.
Regards.in advance.
Mike.

I used a spring loaded hinged plate that is pushed by the wheel and drags the doors shut........as soon as the wheel moves off the plate, the doors spring open again. Plenty of space on the Corsair, but a smaller/simpler version could be adapted for the Spit.

Between glassclothing another project I've continued with this year's D Day Spitfire.
I painted and sold a Johnnie Johnson MK9 model last year, so I've decided to go with a well documented machine flown by a young Pilot Officer in 412 Canadian squadron based at Beny Sur Mer on B4 airfield.
The young PO Garwood was in the thick of Normandy ops and had to force land VZ S after being hit by flak, fortunately on the right side of the line and he walked away.
I'm trying hard to reproduce a well worn paint job as all of the stripes and code borders were added in the field.
The general finish on aircraft, despite being well maintained mechanically, was pretty rough.
So if it was in the thick of the action then that's how it will look....hand painted....more to follow.

Nearly there. Now for some cannon after I've immersed another project with a final coat of epoxy.

Hello Mike,

Beautiful plane as per normal... :D ;) .. I'm currently looking for a similar cc engine for my Typhoon, how do you rate the Evolution motors?

Many thanks and all the best,

Frank

frank, kind words, thankyou.
Yes Evolution or MVVS 80cc single plug. The motors are identical, serious power house with no running issues
Friends of mine have run them for three or four years and we've seen no problems.
Available from Puffin models, tell them I sent you.
Looking forward to running my Spits on them soon.
