Ted Allison's 3rd-Scale DH Rapide

Postby Keith Mitchell » April 16th, 2014, 7:25 pm

Ted had a very successful first rigging, motor runs and taxi today at Longhorsley.

The DLE 55's started-up first go and a few tankfuls were put through. All that's left before test-flights of this beautiful model, is for sign-writing wizard Eddie Ducker to do the logo's/insignia........

Looks great, your well overdue for another bite at this model, look forward to seeing her on the circuit, :D do we get a build thread? so many parts for this model, links, cowls, glazing, all mut have had to be sourced, or scratch built or drawn out, be very interesting

Can I feel a large model Dh slot, the big yellow 4engined DH,
Teds superb one here, Johns half scale Tiggy
And Steves half scale Comet racer
Quite a slot eh?
Wonder if the RIcket boys could get the Comet air liner in there?
:D

It's the DH86 Express. Another very attractive DH airliner is the DH91 Albatross but Oh boy what a challenge for the engine installations. . . . .

edit - Of course it's designed for electric!

Hearty congratulations to Ted today; he test flew the Rapide and then went on to do all 6 test flights - quite an achievement.

many congrats, doesnt it look totally real? is a DH slot on the horizon???? with a large scale Mossy, the ricket aircraft production line DH86, Teds Rapide, the half scale Comet racer and Johns TIger Moth, I would drive many miles just to see that slot, and i am a tight git :D

Congratulations, that low pass picture says it all. Look forward to seeing it in the flesh. Yesterday must have had some 'higher' support as I completed my test flights with my 1/3rd scale Stinson Reliant SR10 and all went very well. We could pair up at the shows, cabin cruisers rule !.

Excellent job as usual Ted. I would imagine you will have incorporated all the things learnt
from your previous model. It has inspired me to look again at my quarter scale Dragon 84. This model is now twenty years plus. Nothing that a good dusting off and spruce up wouldn't put right. Look forward to see the Rapide at the shows.
