G'DAY Can anyone supply me with the formula to calculate wing loadings, I have almost completed
a blohm/voss ha 139 with 4 15cc petrols in a 8Ft wing, The aircraft is built from a set of plans
designed for electric motors so air frame has been upgraded to suit the use of petrols and additional parts I would appreciate any help thanks TERRY.

G,day Alan thanks for your reply and info I have done the calculations have now given myself more worries that aircraft could be on the heavy side ? once again thanks for info TERRY.

Hi Terence, I tried the calc's as well and it gave my wing loading high, nearly double what they suggested, and my aircraft is within the designers weight range so something is wrong some where.

EXAMPLE, and its not mine
To calculate wing loading, multiply the weight in ounces by 144, then divide by the wing area in square inches. This will give you the wing loading in ounces per square foot. The 144 is the conversion factor for square inches to square feet.

Your wing loading will be 19 to 21 ounces per square foot.

There is a lot more to the assessment of model performance than simple wing loading.
Try this link, it covers the interesting subject of wing cube loading very well.

I should add that WCL enables comparison of models that differ greatly in size.
