not quite true. having read the document its trailers over 750kgs. so as long as the trailer is under that, its my understanding that it wont need a IVA

as my trailer is braked and and target weight will be 750kgs or under i think i am fine, but i will have to have an iva for over 750kg

point taken but i meant it as a hands on practical demo of a build, not a theoretical one, of rules and regs, event tho they will come into play later

build practical advice is very welcome and i appreciated, but for now, rules and regs are off the menu, abd have been covered, i will stress over them when the trailer is complete

for now the sun is out and shining, time to get my tools out, and start too build

completely different set of rules and regs,

as this trailer has yet to sprout wings and fly, or even the wheel touch the road i don't see why the regs apply straight away, from what i understand, BOB, IVA can be done post build as long as you follow the outline regs lay down for lighting for under 7m, which i am following, i maybe wrong way of doing it but each to there own,

this will be my 3rd trailer i have built in 44 years of life, so i am no novice at this, the last one i welded the chassis together,

i am not a complete numbty, LOL

Then why are you asking basic questions of a trailer build? The part that caught my eye was this:

New laws that apply to almost every trailer completed after 28-10-12 mean that very few new trailers can be sold or used in the UK unless they have an approval certificate.
I think I would be very wary, and ask at an MOT garage.

so you telling that before i can start the build i have to get an IVA?

i did ask an mot garage, he is the one who stated 5m length and lights laws to me said nothing of an IVA when i explain that this would not exceed 750kg towing

I would. I know the police check the plates on trailers as there is a huge problem with theft.
By the way, I would edit this bit before they come knocking at your door.....

no chris still be bring the jenny, hopefully a quieter one,

had a mod to the van and had an inverter fitted, as well as the tv being updated to 12v

but i still need to charge the battery

Great just great, people laughing and singing lovely, models being revved up no problem, but a generator running all evening to watch TV is ignorance Richard, if I wanted to listen to a continuous drone I would camp by the motorway, I think of others and wouldn't dream of doing this, it's about time an evening ban was made on these horrible things, I bought a new battery £65 this lasts all three days, and love going away to get away from the t.v. Maybe this year I will bring my 100watt amp and my les paul and kick off with a few iron maiden numbers about midnight.
