Dropped is an understatement, I recon it has been rattling around on a metal cargo floor as there is cardboard mushroomed into the hub from the packaging. The engine was sent with a description of the hub being lightly marked, I would hate to of seen it if it was badly marked. Like you said Alan the crank and bearings are now questionable and that is why it needed to be sent back to ZDZ.

I think it's disgraceful the supplier won't replace,it after all it's no skin off his nose!
Maybe something darker is afoot here.

Is it a reputable supplier?

He can't taxi with what he has.

The 155 won't do okay so go for the 310

or just order the size you need.

Point is, the customer service is second to none (that's a fact) and i've yet to hear of an engine arriving damaged.

In my book it's worth paying more so you get the whole package in case you are unfortunate enough to end up like dave here

rotomax electric,..,no cooling issues,..,plus sound system of a real merlin,,forget the zdz crap that sounds like a moped!

Moped exactly that's why i put the spit build off for so long,electric was just not feasible at the time.
now electric is a viable option and it sounds better than a leaf blower/moped. :D

Ive got a sound system here thats so good you cant tell its not a merlin no matter what the throttle is set at .it can be calibrated so that you get 1500 rpm sound at what ever throttle setting you choose with the rev range going right up to 2700rpm so if your like me & want to potter about at scale airshow speed the sound can be accurate to how fsst the model is being flown.with a 3rd scale spit with 148" span it could carry some serious speakers....ive just gone right off ic power after epic dramas going to the feild..cant start it..now its flooded..goota take the prop cowl off ect ..outa fuel..this is leaking..thats leaking all the oil mess..fuel proof paint...bla bla blahhh....electric...plug in..switch on.. n fly..simple really with no unscale holes any where...look at the rawle spitfire..lovley model untill you hear it flying..

But who makes electric motors equivalent to a 250-300cc 2-stroke?

......and what ESC's and cells will it need?........and at what cost?

I've run a Hacker A-200 on 14s......and it scared the hell out of me. After witnessing 257A current draw, BIG electrics aren't to be messed with........give me a big petrol engine any day.

I will seconded that Phil, I love small electric, but you can't beat a petrol engine in a large model, each to there own I suppose. :D

Cant see the problem with a large electric motor, its the 3phase supply and a very long
extension lead thats the problem

At 300 amps that needs some industrial size wiring and connectors !
I will let someone else calculate the battery setup required for the max 100volts rating, charging time and cost.

I like petrol engines also but it's got to be four stroke to sound proper in a warbird.

No, none at all. With moving house and business there is no time left for modeling. I have taken the engine to Morris Mini Motors for it to be totally stripped and rebuilt with new front bearings and test run.
