In no particular order here's some more pics of various stages of the build. It's just a case now of working through a shortish list of final jobs. Most are simple but the inner flaps which are part of the fuselage moulding a proving to be a bit tricky to hinge, this is due to the curve in them, tried a few ways so far an not really getting anywhere.

As you can see, the green on the wing for some weird reason turned out lighter than that on the fuselage. So yesterday I reprinted the green on the wings, today I should be able to put on the satin clear cote then finish the fit out. It's looking like its not going to need very little if any lead I'm the nose due to the 7 batteries which will required to operate it.

How did you get a good key on the fuselage and still keep all that detail?

Etch primer?

Hi Rob

If I'm totally honest, I can't really remember. I know I didn't lose the detail and I used just normal cellulose grey primer then warbird colours for the top coat. I did key it up, probably with a fine wet and dry paper, because of a previous bad experience with pin holes I was more mindful of rubbing away the surface and causing pin holes than I was concerned about losing detail. Whatever I did worked, no pin holes and the paint didn't come off.

You'll loose detail in the moulding if you use wet & dry.........better approach with any detailed composite component is a fine Scotch Brite type pad (mine are ultra fine from MIRKA). Use these pads to loose the gloss from the surface & key it ready for etch primer All these do is key the surface rather than cutting into a rubbing away any detail. After this, I use a 1K etch primer from Lesanol.......it's lime green in colour & has very poor coverage, but 1 light coat is all is required. I've never had any paint adhesion issues using these products over the past 10yrs or so.......

Cheers guys for the help.

I have been recommended the scotch brite etch primer many times so i think that's what i'll do,the tried and tested way.

I'll have a look for the mirka ultra fine,i use their products all the time and they're top notch.

If i can't get the Lesanol will any etch primer be a substitute?

Is that a carf spit Phil?

Yes....it's a CompARF I did for a client 4-5 yrs ago.

If you struggle getting the Lesanol, let me know & I'll get you a tin.
