17' tony Nijhuis Lancaster Build

Postby Robert_Greenwood » November 22nd, 2009, 10:07 pm

Hello all,

I think i have got a building bug!!

The idea started with my club where i fly, we decided that we should build a large model for all of us to use. When we started we had a few people wanting to help and get involved, before i knew where i was i were sat (on my own) in front of a HUGE box of balsa and a small 25% Scale plan :? . When people in the club got to see the kit they all backed out :(

I got my kit from Slec, very quick service (Thanks Slec!!)

I wasn't going to let this stop be building tho, I started on the kit about 5 weeks ago and i am glad to say i am making good progress.... I first made the elevator and am working hard on the fussy even at this early stage you can see a Lanc!

I will add some photos tomorrow,

Anyone want me to keep a build thread on here?

Regards

Rob

I have nearly finished the base on the Lancaster, working on the nose tonight......

I have got all 3 Zenoah engines for the Lancaster, also the radio set waiting to go in....

I’m still way off the completed model but i am having real fun seeing a model of this size come together :D

Well after 20 cups of coffee, 50 hrs of work we have a Lancaster wing.

Over the next week i will be adding support- fiberglass - carbon etc to the struckture of the wing.

It wasn't the easyiest wing to build with the diffrent shapes and curves....having real fun building tho!!!

Here are some pics! :D
