fabric covering

Postby paul hughes » February 9th, 2018, 4:17 pm

Many years ago i bought a roll of fabric iron on covering from Roy Lever , It came on a 60" wide roll, it is a natural colour and i think it has an adhesive on one side. As you can see in the picture the edges of the fabric are rough. Can anybody identify the product and where can i get it from now? Thanks

Diatex is the stuff you need Paul. http://www.sky-craft.co.uk/acatalog/Onl ... x_313.html They sell the correct dope too.

Powermax Polytex wasn't it? I recall using some in the early 90's and it wasn't as good as Solartex I didn't think at the time.

Thats a blast from the past! Nowadays with the demise of Solartex/Solarfilm then Oracover do a tex that is similar, but I believe different plastic.

Thanks Rob, It might be a powermax product as Roy Lever sold alot of their products, but from what i can find Polytex comes on 30" wide rolls, the stuff i have is 60" wide.

Maybe it was two rolls of polytex taped together? He was a boy was Roy!

Can't comment on what it is, but It won't be Diatex as this has no adhesive on the reverse side.

Cant be 100% sure, but it looks like it could be 'Seconite' as used on full size gliders and aircraft. The tape is usually ironed on to stop the edges from fraying. If it is seconite then it will iron on, but will need to be doped to shrink.
Good luck

Just found this link for you, apologies for incorrect spelling, it should read CECONITE. Ceconite Fabric and Tape - svsponline.co.uk
