For some reason that escapes me Paul, it’s claimed by the bmfa, maybe the LMA, that a petition is not the way to go,

It detracts from the email complaints, and gives people the idea they have done their bit, while really it would take far more than the number of model fliers there actually are to do anything.

It actually takes 100,000 votes to get a mention in Parliament. (usually late at night with three people in there) Absolutely pointless. Give your MP a piece of your mind instead.

Thanks for the info Alan/ Bob. I've already completed the official CAA petition that Rob sent us all and thus made my thoughts on the subject known in a polite manner and also emailed local MP. I'm not worried about the cost of the proposed registration scheme nor fear what will surely be a simple online test but like so many others, I am against the sheer pointless, money making aspect of it.

The worst point is that the government has given the DfT millions to set this up, and they have to make that money back. £16.50 is not anywhere near enough.
