Cruise

Postby BRIAN RAWCLIFFE » March 16th, 2020, 5:17 pm

Good morning fellow pilots I am just letting you know that I am one of the passengers on the cruise ship Braemar. We are currently sailing from the Bahamas to Cuba where we hope to be flown home to Manchester on Thursday which is a week late. We do have the virus on board but so far we are clear but more passengers are being told to stay in their cabins each day so it is a 50/50 chance we could be next. Will post when I return home.Brian Rawcliffe LMA042. P.S. Paul if you are reading this let Tony know. PLS It looks like your new chippy is a dead duck, because we will be in isolation Brian.

Hi Brian,
A bit worrying for you and yours on your cruise . . . just a heads up to say best of luck - its all good timing because it will all be behind you before the flying season starts . . . . cheers. Glenn

I am back home safe and reasonably well. We arrived home from Cuba last night after a 32 hour journey. We were escorted across Cuba from the ship to an isolated area at Havana airport by police motor cycle outriders, and a visit from the UK ambassador. We arrived at Heathrow terminal 5 at 1 pm yesterday, and then bussed to Manchester Airport. My car was parked at the Hilton Hotel, and after checking with the desk we drove home. I went to bed at 8 pm, and woke up this morning at 9am.We now have to isolate. PS. I would like to say thanks to Glenn, Bob, Alan, Shaun, for replying to my post, and to Paul for his most generous offer, but as you can see I had my own transport. Many Thanks Brian. LMA 042

I'm glad Steve Thomas persuaded me to go over when I did, otherwise it would all have fallen foul of the virus problems. We did have some wobbles with Thomas Cook, but I'm glad we didnt leave it until Spring as we originally planned. Its great to see him and Julie doing well, and the evenings on the Big Red Deck will stay with us.

Bob, we went over after you, and we just escaped in time, our plane was last out to the UK to Manchester, we saw the effects the virus had, everywhere closed, streets deserted, stores looted of the same stuff as here, we were glad to be home, but we too will treasure the red deck time with Steve&Julie, it was a great evening, thinks, do we need a we’ve done the red deck T shirt?
