I have ben informed today the sad news that long time LMA member Derek Martin passed away yesterday.
Derek was 92 and active at our shows till a couple of years back---many will remember him for his fantastic model of the Heston Pheonix---he was a real gentleman and fantastic model builder----another sad loss----DAVE JOHNSON

Oh that is very sad news. Derek was a true Gent, a fantastic modeller and engineer, he was always welcoming and a pleasure to talk to. condolences to his friends and family.

Really sad Derek was a real gent and has been ill for some time - his models were superb

Oh no. I always looked on him as indestructible. Sorry to hear we have lost a gentleman of his calibre. A lovely man and a true engineer.

One could not have but the highest regard for Derek. Generous, affable and eternally positive throughout many years of chronic airways disease. A 'go to' man for advice as his engineering expertise was top class, as was the standard of his modelling. A true 'LMA Type'...

One of the special people in our Association and nothing but respect for a life well-served. Fly eternally high, good friend.

I had known Derek for over 50 years as a fellow model enthusiast, and he was one of the best. As well has his wonderful models, he was well known for his mechanical conversions for advance/retard ignition systems on petrol engines, pre electronic day's. As Keith say's, a true LMA type. We will miss you Derek.
