Wanted 7 to 7.5 inch wheels 150-180mm

Postby stuart knowles 1611 » November 29th, 2021, 11:25 am

Hi All,
I find myself in need of pair of 7 1/2 inch wheels, which seem quite hard to come by.

Does anyone have anything around 7 to 8 inch diameter that they wouuld be willing to part with?? Ideally a sort of semi balloon wheel as below but all offers considered.

Please contact me either on here or vis PM if you prefer.

Many thanks

Thanks Steve, Nice wheels Struggling with £80 for a pair of wheels, am hoping to find something a bit more affordable.
(Brought up in Yorkshire - Deep pockets / Short arms )

If nothing else comes up I may have to but I'll say no for the moment.

Thanks for responding, they actually look perfect for the intended purpose.

Stu, Steve’s wheels are cheap! I can’t get 7” wheels for less than £120/pair!

Hi Cary, Yes I know that they are a decent price for new. Banggood do the same ones at a similar price.

A good mate of mine always said that 'Anyone can just go and buy it, the win is to improvise adapt and alter' Recycling at its best. When it comes to modelling, I get a lot of satisfaction from doing things his way.

There's no rush on this, I have plenty to be getting on with. Something may turn up, if not I'll make them somehow.

Hi All,
My thanks to the people who responded directly with a number of suggestions regarding large wheels.

In Journal 158, John Brooks wrote an article on making large wheels from polyethylene foam which held great promise. Then over the weekend, a good friend gave me a pair of 8" skateboard wheels which I think will fill the bill nicely.
They have a strong ally hub with twin wheel bearings and a pnuematic tyre.

The photo shows one as it arrived with a tread pattern and one which has had the tread removed with the aid of a pillar drill and permagrit.

Theres always a way!

regards
