Tony Hooper

Postby Rob Buckley » March 30th, 2023, 7:53 am

It is with great sadness that I have to report that Tony Hooper died last night.

Condolences to Emily & RIP Tony.

Tony has just recently stood down from being a director of the LMA, having spent 20 years or so working tirelessly on our behalf keeping the over 20kg & over 25kg wheels turning.

There's a brief autobiography Tony wrote some years ago here-

Gutted, one of the nicest, brightest talented chaps I’ve ever met, if you could bottle enthusiasm, Tony’s would be a best seller, very very sad loss, condolences to his family, thanks for the work Tony did, and thanks for some awesome stories of his full size exploits, one of the true greats in the association, R.I.P.

Tony worked tirelessly for the Association and will be very difficult to replace. To boot, he was kindly, affable and always grand company. He will be much missed on our flightlines...
Heartfelt condolences to Em' & Family.

Very sad news indeed. Tony was one of lifes good guy, always amicable and a genuine nice chap. He will be sadly missed by the LMA and the aviation world in general. He never made a big deal of it, but I think It should be Tony Hooper OBE
RIP

We all have a memory of Tony because he was such a fantastic and kind man.
I remember going to Johns fly in and Tony took me for my LMA Proficiency, jurying the flight which I was so engrossed, Tony came behind me and pulled my Throttle all the way back and said, You have a dead stick!

I did the normal and gave my commentary and landed.
I have never forgotten his advice which is priceless.

We have lost a true gentleman and will be sadly missed by so many.
RIP Sir
Thoughts are with Tony’s family
God bless
