Maitland Baff P82 Twin Mustang 160" Wing

Postby Maitland Baff » February 19th, 2010, 4:22 am

Hi Guy’s at long last my P82 Mustang Has been started, my kit was cut by Richard at Falcon Aviation at long last due Richard’s family having health problems, I went down to Richards last time I was at home and we looked over my kit which I must say I was very impressed by what I was getting, since I was due back to the rig , I spoke to both Richard and George Murgatroyd hope the spelling is right George for your surname about getting my kit in skeleton form ready for Wigan, so off I went to work and left the boy’s with it, as I received some photo’s I thought I would put them on the new project’s as some people in the LMA new that I had been waiting for my kit, so here are the first few photo’s sent to me by Richard and George, and will post more as them get sent to me, can’t wait to get home to see it in the flesh so to speak.

I have made a composite photo of the Wing Joining System. Its big so I hope it up-loads OK!
These Phenolic Tubes we make in all different sizes and strengths depending on the requirements of the model.
The Front tube is 2"dia and the rear is 1 1/4"dia. Although these may be a little bit "over the top" I chose these sizes because of the design of this aircraft these tubes will take the full weight and stress of 2 complete fuselages (along with engines, retracts etc) at either end of the wing's centre section. And the last thing you will want is this Centre section flexing! -basically if you bend this Maitland, then its likely that the rest of the plane will probably be matchwood!
anyway - the end result is that we now have a large strong wing which will can be easily put together by one man in seconds and then diassemble as quickly for convenient transport in 3 pieces. hope the picture uploads OK now....

Hi Maitland/Richard

As appointed inspector for this project, it's been a good 2+ years since our initial discussions.......I wasn't aware any progress had been made since.

In the politest possible manner, can I ask that no further construction is done until I have had a good look at the plans and any structures completed so far.

Cheers

Phil

Hi Phil
I believe that another inspector was arranged some time back at Maitland's request (hence why you won't have heard anything in so long) - obviouly the powers that be have not seen fit to inform you - I dont know what the communication protocols are in such matters. For further detail you will need to contact Maitland directly (I assume you have his emails etc on the rig)
Cheers
Richard

Hi Richard

No.....I have no e-mail for Maitland (such a long time since he's been in contact)

If another inspector has been organised and has carried out inspections to date, that's fine........I've contacted Tony to get the details

Cheers

Phil
