Ziroli DC 3

Postby James Maitland » May 26th, 2010, 9:02 pm

Hello To All,
I was wondering if anyone could help please, I have been trying to get in touch with Mr Tony Hooper about registering
an over 20K model just in case the DC3 creeps over, I have e-mailed, phoned and sent a PM but cant seem to be able to
reach Mr Hooper is he away at the moment? If so does anyone know when I would be able to contact him?
Also as the model I am about to build is a relativity well known plan and I received a part kit from Belair would my plan still
have to be checked by the LMA inspector? or as it is a known design would it be a case of build the structure (with out sheeting skin) and then have my first visit to which ever inspector is assigned to me with the built open airframe? Just
curious my first registered model and am interested in the proccess, Thank you, James.(2984)

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for your reply I have been following the other sites posts and I have been thinking about
copying what others are doing, as you have said lighting everything past the C of G, the thing that
concerns me though is that I would be better to register the model just incase as I intend to make it as scale as
possible and scale detail might just make it a wee bit heaver, also if I start "dremel drum sanding" with a
registered model how kindly would an inspector be to that? I mean yes everyone else seems to be doing it but it
would mean diversifying from the plan in a reasonably large manor , it wouldn't bother me as I just love to try
different things when it comes to our hobby I think its what makes our hobby so great, but as this will be my first
registerd model I dont know how well changing things would go down with an inspector.
I have designed a few very large models but before I register them I am doing the DC3 to see what the process
involves, any views on what an inspector might think of lighting a know design would be greatly recieved.
All the best, James.
P.S does anyone know what is the best time of day to phone Mr Hooper, I have been told to phone him this week
but is he at work during the day?

Hi Wayne,
I was going to use electric but I dont know if the flight bat's are included or are looked upon as fuel
if they are included then they come to nearly 7 1/2 Lbs so it might be unlikley to be under the 20k or 44Lbs.
have you any posts with your dc3 being built? Just this minute been to the door the nice delivery man has
just given me a parsel of poly-board from Mick Reeves. James.
