1/3rd scale Dawn Patrol Zepplin

Postby Mike Booth » September 27th, 2010, 6:05 pm

My epic solo build has flown at dawn last Wednesday.
BOC sponsored the first hydrogen fill, we decided from the start that it had to be scale so no Helium.
6 x 100cc fourstroke sparkies.
Incredible sight when she is tethered and they are all ticking over.
It was perfect despite the wiff of gas as she went round on some trial circuits.
Cant wait to see all the Pup's and Camel's diving in for the attack.

Pictures soon.

See you all at Gaydon.

Mike.

Absolutely gutted, and only the second flight.
The time and effort that goes into this hobby is starting to get to me.

Well I hope you have all had a good laugh now.
Sorry but I just couldn't resist.
Apologies to RCME as there was nothing to go up in flames to start with, I was dreaming.

What is worth saying here is how I am just knocked out by the standard of the Dawn Patrol machines.
I was at Osbournby at the weekend which had a few there, all great to see.
However, someone had a Fokker DV11 in yellow with lozenge chamo, Cor it was good, it was just like standing next to the real thing, right down the the fabric.
Real aeroplanes made with real materials, great.

Yep, impressed by that D7. Your Spit aint too bad either, Mike- do you do that one wheel landing as a called manouvre? First time it was port, next flight starboard!

Bob, its always been port, and I have now completely serviced the U/C and its working fine.
The second Spit is coming on nicely and will have seperate systems for each leg.
I think you can tell where Im going with this.
Cheers Mike.

First man on the Moon, total respect that he has come back to aero-modelling where it all started.
