The problem with Mr Pilot is that he is probably a 1/4 scale pilot and the Meister P47 is not quite 1/4 and not quite 1/5th scale. Whilst we're picking on him he looks a bit pasty too, cockpit does look good though.
Have you picked a new scheme for it yet? if not choose an 8th AF scheme I have a cunning plan.
Since you put me under pressure I've spent some more time on Steve's and got the primer all on.

Theres hundreds of good 8th P47 schemes to do although people seem to be more imaginative when it comes to Thunderbolts than they do with Spitfires and Mustangs, most aeromodellers think there were only four Spitfires during the war.

Meister P47 is surely way off 1/4 scale.
Ive thought about kitting it at 1/4 but she is a monster.
RAF pilots when they first saw the Bolt, said to avoid German bullets you could just run around in it.

Look on www.hyperscale.com for colour schemes , plastic kit site with superb reference for all warbirds.
If you can't find one on there that hasn't been done its time to start building fishing rods.

Stu there were only four Spitfires in the War, MK1, MK5, Mk9, MK14, all the rest were just using up aluminium

Nice one Mike, looooadsa schemes. I might just forget them all though and do a sport scheme. All yellow with pink stripes or something similar. They do it with scale jets so why not?

Yeah go for it.
Its essential though, if you are putting max effort into the cockpit, to have a max effort pilot figure!!!!

Other than making the joystick the cockpit elements are now complete and can be stuck in once the fuz has been primed.

I decided to do a little more on the canopy rails this time too so started work on them today. Not that close to scale and not in the same league as Phil and others but once its been filled, sanded and painted it'll certainly look better than it used to

dad made a couple of hinges for the hatch door

the plate inside will have the 2 switches and charge sockets plus the air valve and pressure gauge.

Its not finished yet as have to add balsa to the door to get the shape of the fuz plus close up the gap when the door is shut.

It will have the usual little magnet to keep it shut although its hinged at the leading edge (model laying upside down when pics were taken!) so airflow will hold it closed.

I'll probably also cover the door in then lithoplate that slightly overlaps so hide the gap round the edge.

Dangley legs dropped by today to checkout progress so I thought I'd better do a bit. Sprayed the dark grey onto top side of the fuselage and one wing today with Phil Clarkes Warbird paints. I had heard mixed reports about these paints and having never used them before was a bit concerned as to how it would go but after a carrying out a few tests to get the viscosity right it went on a treat. It's covered very well, dries quick and looks very nice. I'm hoping to spray on the green camo over it tomorrow (Phil if your out there an not wining an dining the missus will that be ok to spray over so soon?).

Forgot to say even though the Warbird paint costs more than normal paint it's definatly worth it and as you mix it with water rather than cellulose it means it smells better too.

You pictured the tail wheel at the beginning. Have you done anything there?
