I think it might have done Alan, My customer brought it from someone called Chris but I don't know his surname. The Chris who half built it sold it to my customer and then charged him extra to finish it but after about 9 months no work had been done and the money had gone.
Whoever built it clearly had no idea wht he was doing though, I came accross some right horrors whilst working on it, I'm sure had he finished it it would have been a smoking hole in the ground very quickly.

Paint was going so well until I splashed thinners over it's nose today, Bum

Heres just a snap of the back end showing the markings. It's all painted now and will have the fuel proofer applied later in the week.

Right back at the start of this project we decided the supplied spinner was not only the wrong shape but was also not up to the job. We managed to find a secondhand spinner of the right shape but still had a single fixing bolt through the middle, so it was all sent to Allan at Cestrian who made a very nice backplate and modified the spinner to be fixed through the sides. Allen then sent it to me, the old paint was stripped off an then resprayed red. The now redundant bolt hole will be blanked off.
The first picture has the original backplate on the right.

Nearly there now, just got to finish painting the cowl and gear doors and do a few little bits here and there. The exhaust has been custom made and was fitted this evening ready for it's first engine runs tomorrow.

Wouldnt use that one on ebay, it wont be attached to an engine for long.

Hi Steve, The one I used is 6" I think my customer got it from Mick Sutton but as previously mentioned a new backplate was made by Cestrian (who also make Willis Typhoon ones). As for that crock of whoopsy on ebay as Chocky says, that would soon leave it's aircraft and wander off on it's own adventure leaving your aircraft to shake itself apart (remove it from your watching box Jason).

there is nothing wrong with the ebay one that a new decent backplate would not cure, the one in this spit build is the type, as for the ebay seller--carefull, he is one of the leading lights of the Dawn Patrol,

You're right about the backplate Alan but I still can't work out what MK of Spitfire this spinner is from, I think I've said it before it's not quite a Merlin an not quite a Griffon(feel free to call me anorak). There's got to be a market in this country for good scale spinners, if anyone can make them.

Nearly there, Danlgy legs made himself useful Saturday and held the back end whilst we ran the engine up, the home built silencer worked well and sounds quite nice. Just got to finish off and fit the gear doors and cowl then put a big lump of church roof(actually it came off Morrisons supermarket in Diss) in the nose. It's being collected sometime next week. I have some pictures of the finished beast but I can't get them sorted for this site, I blame Amy but she says I've messed about with the camera settings thats why they won't work I don't know about stuff like that I just glue bits of wood together.
