I can confirm that, but I think Den is referring to the heavy landing.

Ta for that Dave, I had the thought that the Spektrum servo's would be suitable, but best to ask. On a couple of other Ali undercarraiges I had that problem too, but being smaller I swapped them for G/F affairs. This one though is a bit big for that, so I think a system like yours will suit me. Whether I have the skill to modify it for flaps? Time will tell.

No problem Bob, my u/c quick fix is just a tester, I will come up with a better setup I hope, if you are not sure about how to do flaps am sure someone on this forum will tell you, they are a good bunch like that.

Rising from the ashes, well not quite, my new Sky-120 is starting to take shape, fuz is done and covered, the tail and fin survived from the first one so I might use them, it will make if feel a part of my first ever build is still in there (I am a sentimental old fool at times) wings are nearly finished, added some lights this time, was going to add flaps but to be honest I didn’t have a clue where to begin, I guess I will have to learn to user that redundant servo at the back attach to the fin.

I wasn’t going to add anything to my original thread but thanks to Bob he has bought it back to life Thanks Bob you have rekindled my interest again. Here are some pictures of the progress so far. Opps, sorry will have to go now I hear a nagging voice in the distant,’ yes you have guess it, it’s her in doors’ coming my love, don’t laugh you have all said it.

Hi all I have managed to escape to the shed for a couple of hours tonight to carry on with the replacement Sky-120 build, and after much deliberation I decided to reproduce the original covering design, sorry, I know it seem boring doing the same thing as before but I really didn’t get the chance to be bored with the first one, and as I put it on the LMA Trade Stand at shows with a picture build thread for people to look at I thought it would be easier to do it the same as the first one.

The bad weather is forcing me to motor on with this build I hope it will be covered for the Spring Seminar.

Now that Dave has had some fun. I now find I have the same problem he had when it comes to the spruce strip for the Dihedral boxes, definately not the correct size of wood. Living just beside Ben Nevis that means purchase correct size is a no no. So looks like I shall have to glue what Is in the wood pack at the correct positions then plane ansd sand to the correct external dimensions. Any comments? Only helpfull ones

Next Question, the Dihedral box slots, in the ribs, are a few millimetres away from the main spar, there, the support would only be by the ribs. Should the Dihedral box not be better supported? Or am I missing something?

So far it has been a real treat, the wing half parts clipped together in a wonderfull way on the first one.

Hi Bob, the box section should be attached to the main spare I don’t know why you seem to have a gap, here is some pictures for you I hope they help.

As you said it is the wrong size wood in the pack I have sent this information to Slec, once I lined it up I marked it and sanded it down and glued into place, if you don’t want to do that Slec will send you the correct wood if you phone them.

Hi Dave, I am pleased to see you agree with what I have done. It was the only sensible choice. Thank you for that.

Although I am taking my time with it, progress has been rapid due to very nice design work and neat kit cutting.

Hi Bob, yes it is a good kit, I am on and off my second build, due to doing the Journal and the website, but it is still coming on although I would have liked it to have been finished by now. Still there is hope yet for East Kirkby.

I might as well confess here too.

Went to the loft last night about 11pm. Built second wing from the pile of sorted and handed parts after I put the left wing half on the back of the bench. I copied it faithfully, did a good job too.

Slec will send me a new wing set in two or three weeks so that I can build the right wing halves. Never have I done something so stupid before.

Want me off the thread Dave? Don't be shy.

everyone has done it bob!!!! i did it twice on the one model! ended up with 5 of one side and 1 of the other! the final set was perfect from all the previous practice!!

Look on the bright side Bob you have a spare left wing, it is the easiest thing in the world to do, I know some seasoned builders who have done it not so long ago, all part of the enjoyment of the hobby.

Don’t forget I did this thread for people who was thinking they could never build anything unless it was 90% done for them and I was one of them.
