I've got a few pics which I'm waiting for "her indoors" to resize for this site. The Whole model was taken back to the glass, the tailwheel doors will be re-made whilst the edges have been repaired. Steve just wants it re-painted so there won't be any flashy new parts other than the new cowl and gear doors all round.

The camo pattern is very unusual and we don't have many good pictures of the original fullsize aircraft, there are a few useable pictures of the left hand side but not much of the right. To make it even harder the restored airworthy P47 in the states isn't very accurate either, so I've had to use a bit of artistic license and a bit of both old and new. The wings on the modern one show the green as splodges wheras on the wartime aircraft they appear to be a mixture of splodges and thin strips.
The paint in the pictures is only a few light coats and is still in the process of drying hence it's appearance.

Yeah been on there, theres tons of them. Don't think we will ever find all round pictures of the original aircraft though, Who's gonna know it's not quite right?

Thanks for that Jason, thats shed some light on things, what becomes apparent is that the aircraft was repainted with a different camo scheme causing some confusion when we've compared photo's of the modern and old. Despite the gear doors being bare metal the underside seems to still be light grey, certainly the starboard wing will have been grey as it retains it's invasion markings.

I'm still waiting for an opportunity to get primer on mine. I have done some more work on the hatch though.

The air valve complete with large washer slides out of its mount when pumping up the system meaning the magnet couldn't go in that corner or the middle. So as you see in the pic its mounted in the other corner. The two holes will house the toggles switches and the slots will house the charge sockets. The door has been faced with soft balsa so that I can sand it to the shape of the fuz before adding thin lithoplate with a slight overlap to disguise the gap.

A small part of the model but one that I like to do......and better on each model

Not sure about bling, thinking of making it all dirty an 'orrible especially as people are getting upset about the squeeky clean Spitfire.
I finished the camo on the fuz today, I'm pretty inmpressed with the paint should be able to crack on with the markings tomorrow.

good old daddy primed the bolt yesterday and then filled the blemishes. So, my next job is to rub it all down before it gets another blow over before doing the panel lines and rivets

Still just slightly ahead of you, I got the camo finished on the fuselage and started spraying the serial numbers and kill markings today.
