Another good night on the tail done, both elevators are now finished ready for hinging. I am now going to leave the fuzz and concentrate on drawing up the wings; hopefully it will be nearly finished by the time the indoor Wigan event comes around in March.

DAVE JOHNSON wrote:Afternoon Paul--which part would you like me to correct??? its been the case since the AGM debate 5 years ago that competant teenagers with a BMFA B are allowed to fly at our events ,as long as they are accompanied by a parent or gaurdian at all times----this came about because youngsters like Andrew Brown as Bob mentioned, were being excluded from the LMA ,and it was decided then that these youngters were the future of the Association, and to exclude them would just turn them away for future years.I and many more would like to see the age limit removed, but can accept there are valid reasons --CAA paperwork and Insurance just being two---but by agreeing the present ruling it was the best we could do for the future of the LMA.At the moment we have many young pilots who have flown at our shows this year, and there have been no reported incedents or complaints---lets hope this continues----DAVE

And fortunately, because this had been allowed, my son Sam has flown in 4 of the LMA events this year and he is (was) 17. I am an LMA member and he flew my planes with me helping. He flew a 1/4 scale Spacewalker, a 1/4 scale Citabria and his little green/orange balsa jet (Tony Nijhus plan) - all elecrric. Sam has his BMFA B and is dead interested in the hobby. He is the one who has persuaded me to build the half scale Spacewalker - because he wants to join LMA and fly in the shows !!

Hi all, I would like to start off by saying "Well done Andy" the show scene has waited many years to see all three V bombers flying, Simon got us all juiced up when he started building his Valiant, and I remember using his iconic and very realistic photo of his Valiant on a test flight, with hangars in the background, on the front page of Journal 116 in February 2007, only to be disappointed a few weeks later with it's demise.

So out of the ashes of Simon's attempts of a re-birth, great news that Andy (a brilliant modeller) has taken up challenge to give us all the iconic threesome. I hope all goes well with this one Andy, a big thanks for reviving that fabulous Victor, as I remember being out on the runway with Gordon and a couple of others when he first flew it at Duxford, I still have a set of photos I took on that day of his heat-stopping take-off, flight, and landing to the cheers and clapping of the spectators, and Gordon receiving the LMA trophy for best model.
So for me it exciting news that she is flying again, and whoever pilots her whilst you no doubt will be at the controls of the Valiant, will be an LMA milestone to have all three airborne.

As a footnote, Dave is quite correct (as he should be!) regarding the ruling for under eighteen year old's, as an ex Committee member, I remember the ruling being passed.
