Following the latch on the lounge door going tits up on Saturday, I had to spend my time repairing the damaged door and ignore the Beverley. A few pictures of the repairs for your delectation!

First thing is to remove the badly split parts and then inject some glue into those parts still largely attached. This needs clamping to eliminate the springing that occurs. When the glue is set (Sunday morning) the next stage is to remove some of the material from the removed split wood to allow an easy fit with some space for the resin paste. This has to be done as quickly as possible as the paste has a very short use time. Once rubbed down the second and third passes of resin produces a paintable finish. Two undercoats applied and tomorrow (Monday) I will rub these down and apply a third undercoat prior to glossing.

The Governor said she will do the glossing, so I'll hang the door and she can do that as she wishes. Then I can get back to the Beverley!
