No oil I agree (which puts me off as well), but this made PLENTY of noise as I fitted a Benedini 'Merlin' sound system with 3 x 4" speakers. I had a dB meter on it in the workshop and had it up to almost 100dB!!!!

I used to think the same, WHIRRRRRR no noise, then 2 things happened, 1st, a chap who judges scale at the nats assembled a YT Hurricane, and equipped it with a Bendini sound system, this gave the full Merlin crackle, it was tied in with the throttle on the tranny, advance, and the Merlin roared in sink, throttle back, and the Merlin came back with that lovely sound only that engine can make, it was totally authentic, we had it on the YT stand at the nats, it was so popular, we had to put signs out saying when we would be running it, then there was Phils Spit he did for Ali, that too was totally AWSOME--but louder, the prop noise takes some of the sound away, but i can see more doing it in the future, lecky is coming, in a BIG way i think, and i am a petrol head

Just imagine if the fullsize had been electric, the 'erks wouldn't have been to keen on the spark when plugging in.
