Alis Messerschmitt 262

Postby ian redshaw » May 28th, 2011, 10:31 pm

Congratulations to Ali on the completion of the test flying today of his Me262. After a lengthy restoration and scale improvement session it flew superbly again, even in the 20 knot plus winds that were present at times today. The new turbines (Jet Central 'Mammoth' 54lb) sounded absolutely superb, I've never heard such a convincing early turbine sound. Apologies for the picture quality, we couldn't get Neilly on the airfield

Ian.

I am so glad to see it back in the air, always was my favourite model, I just hope it doesn’t end up overseas with the others.

Yes Paul it was ours (Ghost Squadron).
Spoke toi Ali on Sunday and he told me he had done the test flying. I can't wait to see it being flown. New colours look good as well.

Nice one Ian it looks the business, the picture second from bottom makes it look very real, even looks like a photo taken in the 40's.

Just spotted this thread, like to congratulate Ali and Ian for reintroducing this fabulous model back onto the flying scene, and regards the flying, well you could give Ali a plank of wood and he would do an amazing flight with it

Saw it at the Nats this weekend for the first time in years, was fantastic. It topped off a great line up of models on the showline, which thanks to Ali and his team was by far the best model show I've seen in a long while. Quality not quantity and presented in a format much like a fullsize show, may there be many more like it.
Thanks again to those who made it happen.
