Alan--what a cracking airfield with all the AVRO history--the guys were saying its over 20 years since a Vulcan ran down that runway !!! also a cracking shot considering it was taken with Barrys mobile phone !!
nice having a full airfield to play with, wannit!! but it was strangley quiet, and more than a little eerie, when you think of all that has gone on there, the history of the place is overwelming, i have flown there many times, but this was a tad spooky for me, all the famous names came back, i felt i was being watched by the great and godly, but it was a hell of a day
Here is another shot from Barry’s Phone pretty good. Sorry for the delay in bringing you the picture but I have had a very busy month at work replacing 40 plus computers a new server followed by all the software install and network configuring etc… so please forgive me if I have been a little absent lately, but computers are the last thing on my mind when I get home.
Hi all, just caught this thread, and one must presume that the Vulcan is DJ new big un, couple of nice shots there but imagine what they could have been like if Neil had been there Anyway, enough about the photos, How did the flight go? or do they say it all??
Vince---no that wasnt the new one,its just the 10ft model--i had asked permission to do some test flights at Woodford with the new one,so when we had chance of a day there,i thought i would go and test out the airfield, and one of the Vulcans was the obvious models to take after the all the history of Woodford and the Vulcans----The old White one in the background is due for a clean up and is going to be preserved as part of the AVRO history at the new proposed museum centre on the airfield---my new one should be there for some tests within the month if all goes well---DAVE
