Hi. Well after being at the show this weekend I'm inspired buy the great models on show . I would really like to build a Lancaster but really don't know where to get a kit from have had a look around but can't seem to find out how much it would cost to build ?

I have a Gee Bee with a 76" span and a Irvine 150 2 stroke up front which didn't look anything like the ones that were flying Sunday buy hey its nice to be different not sure if it classes as a large model.

Looking forward to being a part of this forum and will apolagize in advance for the million questions I will be asking

Take a look at falcon aviation
He's designed a Lancaster I think it's around 17 ft
He also has a lot of other large kits at very good prices.

Give him a call as he has many not listed on his site

Hello Alex, and welcome to the LMA forum. The GeeBees you saw at Elvington were the (Pacific models) GeeBee sportster or Model Y. This was a plane built by the granville brothers as a sports plane rather than an out right racer, however it was used for racing now and then when the R1 or R2 had engine problems. I am guessing your geebee is an R2 which are much harder to fly and land than the model Y.

Tony Nijhuis has a thing for Lancasters, as he's made a few. You can buy them on his site and Slec can do his 17ft one. So there are three options, 72", 134" and 204".

Thanks for those links , so would 2k get it built ? Or would it be more?, if so I would have to forget it . No point starting something I couldn't afford to finish.

Yes mine is a R2 , I have only flown it twice but has no bad manners other than needing a bit of speed on landing.

you could also go down the pre-built route. See the For Sale/ Wanted section and Robert Greenwoods ad for a Lanc for sale.

Nice idea but I would like to understand what goes on in the model , if you know what I mean.
I built a priory models lanc for the slope and enjoyed that (I know its not quite the same but) I love working with wood and by the time it gets finished I should have got round to getting my a and b
