Dear All
I hope you are all doing Ok?
It is 4 weeks today until this event is due to take place.

At the moment I can't say whether this event will be able to go a head or not.
Obviously I am approaching it like it will go a head, I am one of those
people where the glass is always half full.

I will always abide by the recommendations, hopefully they might have been eased
by mid-July. We will obviously have to make some changes regarding distancing but
there is nothing we can't sort out.

Something new I would like to add to this event after the normal flying has finished, is an hour or so of free flight, you can thank Mark Hinton for that. All the master pieces
he keeps producing. This would be open to rubber, CO2 and electric.

Before anyone starts flaming me, I will be led by the rules and the science.

Regards Phil G.

Dear All,
I received word from Rachel at Tibenham,
that their long term member Berkeley passed away yesterday.
I was really shocked to hear that news. Berkeley has given me tremendous help with my events over many years.

As well as being a glider pilot he was also a keen modeller
and he always made a point of dropping in at all the model events.
Another sad loss for the aviation fraternity, I will miss him dearly.
Rest in peace Berkeley.

Dear All
Due to the recent government advice regarding the corona virus.
the Salute to the 445th Bomb Group has been rearranged for
Friday the 14th of August 2020 at Tibenham airfield Norfolk NR16 1NT
The cafe will be open obviously with social distancing rules
and what ever measures are deemed necessary by the owners.
I said I would be lead by the rules and the science and that is what I have done.

We are all desperate to get fully going again.
I think with a little bit more patience we will get there.
Obviously I respect others views which may differ from mine.
So it is up to the individual to make up their mind,
if they want to attend or not.

This virus unfortunately is not going away anytime soon,
so we have got to carefully learn to live with it.

Dear All
Here are the guidelines for the Salute to the 445th BG model event to be held at Tibenham airfield Norfolk NR16 1NT on Friday the 14th of August 2020.
I have given this careful thought and I have also sought advice from two long term Friends/attendees of my events.
This is what I/we have come up with. I know this may not please everyone but these measures are not taken lightly and are designed for the greater good of everyone.
1) It would be helpful for all those wishing to attend the event if they could register their interest before the event, this will give us an idea of the likely numbers. It would also make less paperwork on the day. See point 3.

2) Social distancing as recommended by government guidelines must be observed at all times.

3) Those attending must be prepared to give their name and a phone number. Failure to do so will result in automatic exclusion. These details will be destroyed 15 days after the event.

4) Car parking, vehicles must be parked 2mtrs apart.
There is plenty of room at Tibenham.

5) Number of models in the air at one time.
This will be decided on the day, once we have had a measure up.

6) Those attending will be asked/advised to bring along their own hand sanitizer.

7) Although I will make every effort to make this event as safe as possible, those attending will do so at their own risk.

8) No one shall touch anyone else's property unless asked to do so.

The cafe will be open as usual. I am sure Eddie and Rachel will be following government guidelines.

The SRG1308 came through from the CAA yesterday, we have got a ceiling of 1700ft.

Something new for this year. After the RC flying has finished around six to six thirty. Free flight / small RC will take place. The free flight is open to rubber, co2 and electric.

We have all had a difficult year, a days flying with friends and like minded people would make a nice respite for us all. However I do understand that some people might find this a 'bridge too far' and may not wish to attend, each person will have to make their own minds up about that.

As always I will try my best to make it a good day for everyone.

Dear All
I was contacted today by Byron A. long term supporter
of my events both at Coltishall and Tibenham. He has crossed over
to fullsize in the last few years. He brought his Starduster Too
biplane to Tibenham a couple of years ago and gave people rides init.

Well to cut a long story short, he is unable to attend this event
but he wanted to give a donation to help pay some of the cost of it.
I told him he had given us enough and there was no need to give
us anything else but he insisted.

So he sent £100 to my paypal account, I found that very humbling.
A very generous gesture for the benefit of others, some he does not even know.
So I thanked Byron from all of us for his very kind and generous donation.
Things like this restores ones faith in humanity.

Dear All
Some more information regarding the measures we
are taking to make this event as compliant with
Government guidelines as possible.

Please check and ensure there are no restrictions on you travelling from your area before setting off. If you or anyone in your household has any of the symptoms of COVID-19 you must stay at home. The main symptoms are:
A high temperature

A new continuous cough

A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

You must also stay at home if you have experienced COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days, have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14-days, or have had contact with a known or suspected COVID-19 case.

If you or anyone in your party becomes ill with any of the recognised COVID-19 symptoms (while onsite or within 14 days afterwards) please contact me immediately.

It would be a good idea for everyone to bring a facemask with you. Facemasks are optional outdoors but it would be good to have one.

Dear All
I would like to thank all those who made the effort
to attend this event last Friday.

It was really nice to be out and on an airfield
with like minded people. The weather was perfect
for model flying, not too hot and light winds.

As always there were some extremely nice models
present and the flying was of a high order.
The only mishap, was my Hurricane (Mavis) on it's
maiden, it decided to dive at the runway from about thirty
feet. Fortunately it was not too badly damaged.

This is the second model I have had dive into the ground,
so it is time I had a new radio. In my entire 42 year model
flying career, I have only ever had one new radio and that
was when I first started. So it is about time I had another one.

As always I would like to thank my helpers on the day.

Kevin F.
Tony C.
Clive G.

The excellent photographers.
Kevin F.
Pete C.
Mick W.
Dave B.

Thank you all once again.

Hopefully we will see some of you at the Battle of Britain
event on Friday the 18th of September 2020.

Regards Phil G.
