Final clear coat well under way.......just the sides/top of the fuz to do now. I've used Klass Kote 'Satin Clear' mixed 1 part clear, 1 part satin catalyst and 1/2 part reducer through an Iwata RG-3 0.6mm mini spray gun..............

Looking great Phil.....looks like the maiden is not far away.

BTW...the Flying Scale Models magazine featuring the Miles Hawk Speed Six has just been released here in Australia, so I am trying to
to get a copy now

Cheers

Hi Ted

As soon as the clear coat is done, I just have the filler caps, fuel guages and the wing walkway to add and I'm done, so still more than happy to send you the magazne over if you strggle getting a copy.

Hi Phil.....thankyou again for your kind offer of sending me the Magazine..........however I did manage today to order my digital copy and have downloaded and printed all
the MHSS info.

I notice that you have not tapered the rego lettering on the top and bottom of the wing........I only picked this up today looking at the 3 views.

I have not started my 1/4 scale version yet......I decided to finish off another project (recovering repainting my 1/3 Spacewalker) as I dont like to have too many projects on the go at once.
I will let you know when construction begins......it may be a bit small to start a thread on here.

Cheers

All done........everything will be left alone now for a week or so to fully cure off before systems install.

Mmmmm, you've noticed!!!! Dad had all the paint masks cut and I was part way through application before I got the magazione & 3-views in question. All other photos I'd found up until then were from such an acute angle you couldn't tell if the registration lettering was parallel or not.......hence the error

With customer building work coming out of my ears since the move to the new workshop, the Miles has made the 160 mile trip back south to Dad's place and he's now on with the final assembly & fit out......other than completion of the wiring harness to connect wing to fuz, the wings are now complete.

Well it's taken him a while to get there (as I keep giving him jobs to do!!)....but the Miles is now all done and has had it's CG check today (Vanessa rig method).

1st engine runs & test flight as and when time & the weather permits

At some point yes.......not sure if I'll come down to test fly there, or Dad will come up here.......either way, I'm sure you'll see it around & about. I hope he's ganna let me 'borrow' it now & again so I can bring it to the odd show/flyin as well.

Clark Snr looking justifiably pleased with himself after the 1st outing with the Miles at Osbournby at the weekend.........the DA50 had never been run, so this 1st trip was just intial engine runs and a general shake down........no problems reported other than the 24 x 8 being a little over prop'd for the new engine.

Another outing or two required to put several more tanks of fuel through the engine.....by that time we should have some better warmer weather so I can get stuck into some test flights.
