Phil Clark wrote:The DLA - BLE 30's are potent little engines..........way above what is recommended for this airframe. Fitting this much power is likely to cause you more problems than it solves, especially as a relatively inexperienced pilot (no disrespect). The saying 'you can never have too much power' isn't true to all airframe types. In a slow flying, lightly loaded type like this, it's definitely not what you want. This uses it's wings to fly not it's engine.
The 30's are also pretty light weight engines........you have an airframe with a VERY short nose and quite a long bulky rear end.......so why fit a light engine and run the risk of either having to shoe horn batteries further up front (where they probably weren't designed to go), or add extra nose weight.
This model is crying out for a simple, reliable Zenoah 26. It's more than enough power & being a little heavier than the 30's, it's 'useful' weight rather than a light engine + ballast. It's side induction, side exhaust so will fit in the radial cowl easily. Everything stacks up in the Zenoah's favour. Add 20 quid to your budget & buy one......

Why do you ask for advise and then tell people the advise is wrong! kind people are trying to help you.
As for cost, the smaller engine will be cheaper to buy and use less fuel, another plus is props are cheaper for smaller engines. Also the model will be lighter and threrefore easier to fly and land. The model you have is designed for a .91 2 stroke glow engine, which is about 15cc, so a 26cc petrol will be fine and about the right weight.
With the GeeBee model Ys we found that a 25cc powered model is no quicker than a 38cc powered plane, this is beause the airframe has so much drag it has a terminal speed and only a massive engine will pull it any quicker. Your monocoupe is the same span and although a high wing rather than low has a similar amount of drag.
In Short listen to Alan!
