Yes, very......replace the existing tufnol mount & hall effect sensor with the standard magneto source & ignition coil and HT lead, and replace the aluminium flywheel with the standard magneto flywheel........so only 3 replacement parts needed.

Why do this? Is the Elec ign 62 not so easy to start, then? I thought this was the way forward.......

Thanks Phil.

Hi Bob, I just hate charging batteries and that's another one to look after and another switch too. Think I will revert to magneto, and if that's a pain to start then add the easystart bits later.

All my other Zenoahs are Magneto other than this Z62 that's destined for the Chris Willis Typhoon... It''ll be nice just to flick n'go...

Doesn't the electronic ignition version have inbuilt advance and retard for smoother throttling and pick up?
LMA2345 now that should be easy to remember!

Stuart 'just flick and go' are words that wont be associated with a G62 without easystart.
The backfiring alone will make you wish you had kept the easystart.

Best of luck ...Mike.

I use several Z62 and Z45 engines and have done so for many years. If you position the prop in the correct place and get used to knowing how to prime these engines they are just as easy to start as with electronic ignition. I have a 3W 80 twin with electronic ignition and many times have considered modifying to cd so that charging up yet another battery is not neccessary. The supposed increase in power with electronic ignition is not really justified.

unless its in a big cowl, or on a reduction unit, i dont see how the magic lecky booster box is needed, i will start, even with a less than intact shoulder, any correctly set up and in good condition 62 in 5 flicks, many years ago, i was a buyer of the booster system, until Glen of Glens models took us to the flightline, set the model up, then, showed my then 14 yr old what to do--he was soon starting his extra by hand, easy peasy

I have experience of the Z62 on mag only and that's no problems. In fact I have been offered it to buy!

As Alan says, prop in the right place, correctly primed and an appropriately aimed smack...
