Cheers Ken. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised when it was out in the daylight. Still far from perfect but I'm very pleased with the result. Justr need a new engine now

Steve has man flu and isn't allowed out so therefore hasn't finished it yet, he did tell me that it may fly on Saturday but thats a secret so don't tell anyone. Your P47 looks very good Gregg, shame the Corsair won't be there with it next season. Just one thing missing though an thats the dummy radial in the business end. I think the only way to rectify that, is, Sarah will have to buy you a Moki 150 for Christmas.

Blimey Gregg your as bad as Dave Parry, I log on an your there within seconds, he really is watching us. All you have to do is some decorating and take her out to a fancy restaurant, drop some hints, job done, Moki in the stocking. Failing that, divorce her and marry Nigel

What are you going to do now Gregg? Spitfire?, Corsair?
Steves should be ready to fly within the next couple of weeks, then hopefully there will be some pictures of the finished article.

Hi All, just finished the refurb on my trusty old P47, took her up the feild today for test flight but far to windy so just got some photos to post.

Stuart from the Fighter Factory stripped the old finish off her and gave her a new coat of paint, i have replaced the receiver now on 2.4, put on new servos to elevators and ailerons, made up a new exhaust hopfully it wil be less noisy than the last one. Fitted a new set of up graded oleos to the retracts.

Replaced all the batteries and moved them from inside the fus to over the engine which has ment i didnt have to put any lead in the nose to balance which means the model is now 5lbs lighter!!.The old batteries were buried in the fus and when extracted i found i had the written the date on when i put them in, 05/06/2006 !!!!!! Tested them and found them to be still performing at 95% good old Nicads!!!

The decals and nose art Stuart did from the excellent masks from Flightline Graphics, and i am very pleased with he results.

So after about a year "Hairless Joe" is ready to go, just waiting for a nice Sunday to ground check and test fly.

Cheers for now Steve

Cheers Greg.
Glad everything went ok on your second attempt, just proves the point that no matter how much preperation you do, you always have to be on the ball as you never know whats going to actualy happen till you fly um!!.
Look forward to some Thunderbolt formation flying next year.

Nicely restored Steve!

Is that a club or a plumbers wrench?

Now I will have to do an even better paint job on my spit .

Mike.

Steve's P47 took to the air again last Sunday, had a very successful flight with just a few minor snags to sort out.
At least one of us has got a new model ready for Kirkby.

Steve, Not seen you and the bolt so far this year? Is it all sorted now or did the spit take over?

Mine has now flown at 5 events and has had 15 flights since re-build. Neil as usual managed to capture it well at Rougham
