So nearly there now after over 3 years.
I came away from Gaydon in October 2008 inspired by the DP models so I just had to have one.
Although I had built the entire airframe over the next eighteen months for one reason and another it sat around in storage.
I had no real idea after starting again that I wasn't even half way through the creation of this model.
The thing is although like a lot, I have been model making man and boy with all the traditional building skills;
I have concentrated on composite design for WW2 Warbirds for the last twenty years and had completely forgotten just what is involved in the way of time with the fittings and materials used in these machines, particually at 1/3rd scale.

This is the third Scout I have built, the first a small 1/6 scaler from an old RCMW plan back in 1983, taught me plenty about scale flying.
I was so fond of this model that I then built a 1/4 scale Scout in 1990 and enjoyed hundreds of flights with it including competition rounds. Pictures will be added when i find them.
I eventually sold the model at auction to concentrate on WW2 subjects.

Such were the memories of fine flying, that I had to forsake an easier, but more time consuming path and not build a 1/3rd scale Sopwith Triplane from my own plans, so that I ended up with a unique DP Scout.

This model was created by just measuring from scale drawings and cutting wood!
I made a jig for the fuselage structure, had the ribs laser cut with the scale Modified Coanda section, did some brief outline drawings for the tail parts and just added the rest as i went along, basically its entirely scratch built with the exception of the handy MIck Reeves ali cowl and wheels.
I hope to test fly either before Kirkby or on site that weekend !!

The model has been rigged and I now am covering the wings , the tail is complete and I just have to fit the motor which is straight forward and add the rest of the radio gear.

Simon thanks, DV11 sounds a bit hot, I'll be relying on pure flying skill to out fox the Bosh as 'Hawker' will only be armed with a service issue revolver.
Will be good to pair off though and give it the Monty on the chase front. Cheers Matt.

Nearly there, just completed all the rigging today with the scout fully assembled in the house for the first time.
I have to fit the fuel tank and weld up a silencer and she is ready to test fly.
I am planning a visit to Baldock for the maiden in the hope of getting some decent film and stills of the flight.
New pictures coming soon.
