1/5 scale bombs drop tanks etc

Postby Richard Cohen » April 7th, 2013, 9:20 pm

Evening all
does anyone know of a source for 1/5 scale underwing stores - bombs, rockets, drop tanks etc.
I really need Vietnam era ordnance, ie Mk82 bombs rather than WW2 type iron bombs as it's to kit out a 1/5 Skyraider in USAF south east asia trim
I have scoured the net and the LMA galleries but nothing found
any ideas out there

Rich

Mt suggestion is to make them yourself or find someone to do it for you, a good drawing with dimensions could mean a bit of creative spinning on a lathe holding a bit of blue, pink, polyurethane or even white foam can make a presentable shape, bit of glue and some fins and off bombing you can go.

i fairly recently made a friend of mine who owns a full size spitfire profile a spinner from foam, was a bit of a challange to spin due to the sheer size but it looks really good so reckon you could well find some willing turners out there to sin some foam.

Hi Richard, I made a pair of 1/5th scale drop tanks for a DH vampire last year, and I think they turned out pretty well. The guy I made the model for drew them up himself from a three view drawing of the full size aircaraft. They are fully built up, light as a feather and really strong. You can see how I made them on my build thread "1/5th scale Vampire" on page two of "Your new projects". Hope this helps. Dave Jones.
