After a great weekend off which included some flying at last, we attacked the Yak again today, all woodwork finished now and just a final rub down tomorrow and get the covering on.

Excellent work. Its nice to see that some of my (my dads) ideas may have been followed by the looks of it, especially the cowl mounting.

Willis, you gotta be happy with the yak activity you've caused.

Yes Gregg I have followed a couple of your builds and most likely picked up on some of your ideas, its been years since I have used profilm etc and I am amazed how long it takes to apply to get a decent finish, I think i will stick to glassing & paint in future. Only the fuzz to cover and mount engine, canopy etc to finish. Cowl away being painted tomorrow.
See you Saturday Chris at Barkston, got a weekend pass :D

Hi Chris, Yak almost done now, work has stopped play for a few days and Paul can't make Barkston tomorrow so it won't be there. We hope to test fly next week weather permitting, see you tomorrow Dave.

So close to finishing, should be ready for the weekend, all the little last bits to do take ages. Called at Pauls today and here are some pics . It balances on the c of g with no adjustments and weighs in at 26.5lb so really chuffed.

After completing the yak in some 160 hrs it was time to test fly, so we arranged to meet up with Chris at Baldock today to get it in the air. Mike was also there to do his first flight and it was great to see both of them fly successfully. Paul from kingfisher Aviation was our test pilot for the day and enjoyed the two flights he had, even with the wicked cross winds at times. In total five Yaks were present and it was great to see them all lined up with Chris in the front, we had a great but long day,
thanks Chris for inviting us and the Boldock flying club for allowing us to test fly at their site.

Great to see Dave and Paul at Baldock today and well done for the test flights of your 50.
Also, we'll done to Mike Lee on the test flights of his 50, a vary nicely finished model.
