Wings have now got their top skins, servo' boxes etc.. Ready for the bottom skins (one-piece 0.8mm birch ply) and then it's offering the panels up to the centre section for alignment/attachment of the inner tube sockets ......

What are these Sterner Vampires like to fly ? I must admit that i could be tempted. Love the old classic jets and the thought of a composite leaves me cold.

All I've seen have been video links on RC Universe. Several have been in Scandinavia and also 'Down Under'. Apparently they're very docile just like the fullsize. Certainly, Sterner's prototype looked so ......

Mmm, now I have to try to decide.
1) Sterner 1/5
2) Sterner 1/4
3) Ninjas
4) OD 1/4.

What is the cost of the UC Dave plz ?

....wing panel jigged up to the centre section and ready for epoxying the wing tube sockets in place. Note my trusty 'Inclinometer' - a very accurate and adjustable spirit level used by architectural technicians - which helps with setting the dihedral (2 deg's in the case of the Vampire.....).

Looking to restart next month and concentrate on over the winter, Ken........ Currently finishing installation in my FlyEagle 1:4.5 Hawk MkII, which is some 6lb lighter than the original - should improve its flying qualities somewhat!!

Well, Ken, finally made some progress in the last few weeks (but a bit too long in the tooth to match Andy J's heroics.....!).

The wing panels just need the ailerons cut out. The fuz' and inner wing panels have had some extra sheeting and I'm well-on with the tail booms. Stabiliser was lifted off the building board last night and servo' mounts etc., next to do.

Shouldn't be too long before I'm offering the booms/tail assembly up to the fuz' for alignment and fixing..............

After several weeks enforced lay-off, now 'back on the job'. Booms and tail feathers are fixed (an awkward jigging exercise), the stabiliser extensions are attached and shaping/sanding is being performed.

great model, you know I also planned once to deal with DH Vimpire, but I am afraid it would be to difficult for me to cope with all details, how much time did it take you to create all that stuff?

From when this thread started in 2010. But it's not been a continuous build as I've had many other 'distractions'.......

Doesn't sound to excessive Keith, is easy enough to move about on your own though? If you know what I mean?

Solid progress has been made in the last couple of months. All structural work and sheeting completed. Now on with the flaps, ailerons and then U/C mounts to do...
