It's fantastic news that the Stow Maries Airfield will be completely restored. Amazing what has been achieved by volunteers.

Now some of you who know me will know that one of my main interests is WW1 aviation, I am one of the original founders of Dawn Patrol, (yep i am one of the ones to blame!!) as part of this interest for some 4 years now we, DP, have been supporters of this fantastic project and this news is what we have been waiting for.

if you are anywhere near (or not) this is a fantastic day out, and Dawn Patrol will be there again for the armistice weekend in november, (rememberance day) with some displays of our models,

for upto date info go to their facebook pages

the volunteers and Russel have spent considerable efforts over the last 12 months to secure the future of Stow, as other interests wanted to turn it into a lorry/container park or housing, as it has no concrete runways it escaped the attention of the gravel miners i spose, but it now has a future it deserves, and for those not to aviation minded there is also opportunities for some ace wildlife, for those watching the BBC series the great british year, will have seen lots of footage from Stow maries in the Winter episode a lot of the series was filmed there, last nights summer episode had some good footage too!
