Mick Reeves Models e-mail hacked????

Postby Dave Collis 2296 » January 16th, 2014, 4:33 am

Is there anyone that can pop in to Mick Reeves Models and tell him his e-mail account has been hacked. I, and a few others received an e-mail from "mick reeves models", and it has his current e-mail address, stating they are stuck in the Carribean somewhere, and need $1900.00 US etc, or words to that effect.....sounds like typical Nigerian scam.

Cheers,
Dave.

ROBIN HART

Received your e mail stating you have had all ypur money and cards stolen on holiday. Glad your passport has been replaced but sorry you can not catch your plane until the hotel bill has been paid. Cannot send you any money but can arrange a large lorry load of brussel sprouts which should more than cover the cost. Please let me know where to send them

A few years ago I bought some stuff from Mick. He did not have Paypal or Credit Card set up on his web site and told me to email my CC details to him. (Which I did! )"When did you ever hear of someone having their emails stolen?" he said......maybe not such a good idea!

This was the email received today from Robin Hart

Good morning

I hope you get this on time, I made a trip to Lviv(Ukraine) and had my bag stolen from me with my passport, mobile phone and personal effects therein. The embassy has just issued me a temporary passport but I have to pay for a ticket and settle my hotel bills with the Manager.

I have made contact with my bank but it would take me 3-5 working days to access funds in my account, the bad news is my flight will be leaving very soon and but i am having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let me leave until i settle the bills, i only have access to the internet. I need your help/LOAN financially and I promise to make the refund once i get back home, you are my last resort and hope, Please let me know if i can count on you and i need you to keep checking your email because it's the only way i can reach you

Regards
Robin

I got one the same a while back, purporting to come from someone I had sold a model to. The language was such that I knew straight away that it was not from him, but some people HAVE been duped, (one guy was told his son was in jail in Bulgaria, where he actually was, and needed funds to be released) so never, ever even reply to one of these, just contact the person and inform them.

Well I just got my e-mail from Mick just now.. business must be good...

"!I really hope you get this fast. I could not inform anyone about our trip, because it was impromptu. we had to be in Lagos for a program. The program was successful, but our journey has turned sour. we misplaced our wallet and cell phone on our way back to the hotel we lodge in after we went for sight seeing. The wallet contained all the valuables we had I am sorry if i am inconveniencing you, but i have only very few people to run to now. i will be indeed very grateful if i can get a loan of 1900USD or whatever you can afford to are me from you. this will enable me sort our hotel bills and get my sorry self back home. I will really appreciate whatever you can afford in assisting me with. I promise to refund it in full as soon as I return. let me know if you can be of any assistance. here the hotel phone +234-8142442532 Please let me know soonest.

Thanks so much.
Mick Reeves "

Has he changed the bit on his website yet where he says he's never heard of emails being 'hacked' and it's perfectly safe to send your credit card details on an email??

If you mean the bit that says:

"We have never heard of email card details being 'intercepted'. We think this is just a myth."

then the answer is no.

I see there is a note on the Reeves website now!

WARNING
There has been a problem with an internet scam
Someone, pretending to be me, has sent requests to send cash by Western Union
to Nigeria.
This is a SCAM. Do not reply. Delete the message. (Email address is slightly different from ours.)
We never ask for cash payments in this way.

We now ask you NOT to send cards details by Email
You can place your order with your address by Email.
You can telephone the card numbers to us, or we can send you a PAYPAL request
which you can pay securely with your card.
We can also accept bank transfers for larger payments, but this is clumsy and slow

Getting there slowly :D

But six lines lower his site still says...
